A Welsh Winter Wedding!

Just before Christmas, we had the pleasure to photograph the wedding of Phillip and Julia. As both lived in The Rhondda, they decided to hold their wedding at The Heritage Park, Trehafod, which is situated at the foot of the Valleys. An ideal location for their wedding, The Heritage Park played host for the whole day from the bridal preparations, through to the marriage ceremony and wedding reception.

I met Julia first in her room at the hotel, where the bridal party's preparations were in full swing. Both make up artist and hairdresser were already in attendance, as Julia and her bridal party began to get ready for the big day. Julia seemed to be taking it all in her stride, and if she was nervous she certainly didn't show it.

I jumped to and fro between Phillip and Julia's rooms, though (and this maybe a presumption, but I think most would agree with me) grooms don't appear to take as much time as their brides and most of the time I resided in the bridal suite! One of Phil's jobs whilst he eagerly waited was to welcome the guests as they arrived. Family and friends from near and far had come to help them celebrate, and it was lovely to see the happy faces of families reunited at such a special occasion.

The ceremony began with the flower girl almost stealing the show. A little shy of the limelight, she decided to make her entrance walking under her father's legs whilst he held her wand, much to the amusement of everyone there. Julia looked stunning as she walked down the aisle flanked either side by her two sons, and you could see the delight in Phil's face as she arrived. The ceremony was relaxed with lots of laughter and humour, as can be seen in many of the photographs.

Fast forward to the speeches and again, lots of laughter and stories were told. I can't tell you what the stories were about, but Phillip could be seen hiding his face on more than one occasion!

This was certainly a family affair and it was a joyous occasion. This is why I love wedding photography. Congratulations Phillip and Julia, we wish you the best for the future.
